Overview:

So much is changing minute-by-minute with the coronavirus (COVID-19). There has never been a greater need (and opportunity) for Ohio psychiatrists and other mental health clinicians to provide telepsychiatry/telehealth services. Medicare, Medicaid and many commercial insurance health plans are making changes to their processes and policies with respect to telepsychiatry/telehealth services. This livestream workshop is designed to provide timely information about what psychiatrists need to know when it comes to coding, documentation and informed consent when providing services via telehealth.

Format:

This is a recorded webinar that includes approximately 1.5 hours of lecture, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify and understand the emergency process for use of telemedicine platforms utilized to provide patients with needed care for E&M services, therapy services and support across general psychiatry and mental health practices, including community mental health settings;
  2. Identify the specific code sets for each type of care provided - telemedicine, virtual visits and online/phone call support;
  3. Explain the importance of informed consent process as part of this care process;
  4. Review and understand the documentation of the care provided through these alternative delivery methods;
  5. Understand that the diagnoses for care does not need to be related to the Coronovirus (COVID-19); and
  6. Recognize that this process is in place during the crisis period as a waiver to the standards required in normal times for telemedicine.
